Repairing your handmade jewelry should be one of your yearly jewelry projects. Beaded jewelry, as well as any other type of jewelry, requires good and frequent maintenance.

Make sure that when breakage occurs you immediately find a professional to repair it because if you postpone the smaller beads, clasps, or chain parts, might get lost and you might not be able to have your piece in its original design.

A good advice, specifically for pearl beaded jewelry, is that you bring your pearl necklace at least once in every two years for restringing. This prevents breakage of the silk cord.

The pearls need to be restrung with a knot between each other to prevent them all from falling of the silk cord in event of breakage. This also keeps them from being in contact with each other and being scratched.
